Draft: National Toy Fair 2020-2021

The undersigned has been nominated as coordinator National Toy Fair 2020-2021.U/S has attended a virtual meeting on 18-12-2020 with concerned authorities at the Ministry of Education New Delhi. During this meeting, I have been instructed to pass on this message to the concerned stakeholders in Kashmir Division UT J&K i.e. all DIETs in all districts of the Kashmir division. The agenda of the meeting was to encourage all school-going children in the Kashmir division from primary to higher secondary level to prepare Toys that are useful in the field of education.

The program was conducted during winters, due to heavy snowfall in Kashmir in 2021 cold has increased considerably, while schools have been almost closed for the last two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite all these odd circumstances our teachers work hard at zonal, district, and divisional levels with dedication and zeal. We Received various modules at zonal and district levels, appreciable things that were received from snow-bound cut-off areas like Gurez and Karnnah.

Divisional level Toy Fair was held on 12th February 2021 in which almost 120 participants including three position holders from every district accompanied by Escort teachers, representatives from DIETs, Director of school education Kashmir, Joint director SCERT KD, SCERT faculty, and media personnel from different media channels participated. Almost 500 students from 10 DIETs of 10 districts of the Kashmir division participated in this program, in which a district-level toy competition was held in each district through DIETs. On 12th February divisional level toy competition was held at the divisional office in Srinagar Kashmir in which a number of students and teachers participated. Almost 300 plus toy modules are available with us at SCERT Srinagar.

At the National level toy fair out of 300 toys, 19 toy modules were selected for the National level dashboard from SCERT Srinagar Kashmir. Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated India’s Median Toy fair on 27thFebruary, and while reiterating his Atmanirbhar (self-reliance) pitch, Hon’ble PM said India has to become self-reliant in the toy sector and cater to the Global audience and pushed for his “ Vocal for local” mantra. He also said that Indian Toys project the “reuse recycle” culture that has been a part of the Indian lifestyle and asked the manufacturers to use less plastic and more recyclable eco-friendly material.

The key motive behind the creation of each and every toy was to make learning more interactive and joyful by reinventing pedagogy through toys and their importance in the process of learning.
